On Oct. 2, the Inland Lakes cross country team raced at Mancelona. It was the coldest meet so far with a temperature of 49 degrees. There were some steep and short hills on the course, but most of the team either got a personal record or a season record. The meet consisted of a lot of teams, and it was like a conference championship preview meet. There were two separate races, one for varsity and another for junior varsity with both races medaling up to fourtieth place.
“The girls team ran great, the cool weather agreed with them and they were ready for the colder temperatures and they ran really well,” girls coach Sarah Furman said.
The boys team missed out on getting some points, because of the loss of one of the boys.
“The team ran a very tough race but we missed hunter because of an injury and that dropped the team score a little bit,” boys coach Branden Beltz said.
The course at this meet was said to be one of the best.
“The course was probably my favorite course because it wasn’t very hilly, it was perfect. It was cold outside but I think it only pushed me to go faster,” Christy Shank said.
