On Sept. 21, the cross country team ran the Central Lake invitational course in Bellaire. The meet had many hills, most of them being long. It was very humid and the temperatures were in the 80s. This meet was bigger than all other meets so far this season, consisting of 22 schools.
The girls ran the first race with the coolest temperatures.
“They did well but it was challenging between the heat and the hills and with the heat and hills they did a really great job,” girls coach, Sarah Furman said.
The boys had a hard time racing at this meet because of the competition and the weather conditions.
“There was a lot of competition and big schools there, they did very well and hopefully they can do better the next time we run there,” boys coach Branden Beltz said.
The weather and hills were the biggest complaints about this course.
“It was way too hot, but I still had to run. There wasn’t much shade but we all still ran great even with the bad weather conditions,” Nevin Thompson said.
